First things first

Hello friends! Wedding planning is a crazy business, so to keep myself sane, I'm including YOU in the process! Via this blog.

Martin and I have been engaged for over a month now (over a month!) and there's a lot to catch you up on. Consequently, these first few blog posts might be long and boring. Or not. We'll see.

First up, we have a location! We're still working out the details, but we are penciled into their schedule and are currently going over a contract. Hurray! Our church doesn't have a building (this was an intentional decision), so we scouted out a locale where we could have the ceremony and reception in the same place. I've also heard too many horror stories about out-of-towners getting lost on the way from one part of the wedding to the next. Oh, and I've also been that out-of-towner who got lost on the way from one part of the wedding to the next-- not because the couple gave bad directions, but because I am directionally challenged. And so, I give you Fremont Abbey Arts Center!

Second, we have a dress! It was sort of an accident... At the Seattle Wedding Show, Martin and I decided to stop by a sample sale that was going on. Aaaaand.... we kinda sorta fell in love with a dress. It's too big, but I had an appointment with a seamstress yesterday who's going to make it fit like a handed-beaded glove.

Third, we have a suit! Martin looks very sharp in it.

The pictures are only so-so, but I wouldn't want to give everything away before the big day. Consider them "hints" rather than visions of what is to come.

Well, that's all for now. Three biggies are 80% in the bag. Only 180 things left to do!

  2. wow. your dress is AMAZING and i love the colors he's got too. plus the location looks really classy and fun. i love the idea of having both in one place. i had such a hard time with my dress, i knew exactly what i wanted, spent over $300 on getting all the pieces together... only to find out it didn't work at all. so i went to david's bridal and bought a clearance dress i fell in love with. i'm super glad your experience wasn't like that. in my opinion, once you have the dress everything else is just easier.

    1. Thanks, Alaine :) I must say, I loved the way your dress came together. I had no idea there was a horror story behind it.

I'm still only *cautiously* excited about the dress... It needs to be altered by about 10 sizes and before I found my current seamstress, everyone else was telling me it couldn't be done. Now I'm just trusting my seamstress whose claim to fame is taking a size 12 wedding dress and making it a size 00. At least mine doesn't need *that* much work.
